Let me go

I’ll keep holding on

They say to let go when you need to let go.

When you no longer feel valued. Loved. Appreciated.

They say to let go when you are no longer getting the love you “deserve.”

They say to let go when you need to grow.

When you have learned your lesson.

Once you have taken all you can get from them.

But that, to me, is just using someone for personal gain.

Where is the love? Where is the effort?

I hold on when I meet someone who challenges me.

When I meet someone who makes me question everything I have ever thought. Believed.

Who makes me want to see every side of every story.

Who makes me wonder if what I always thought is even the truth.

They say to just let go, like it’s a choice you can make.

Like your mind can just tell your heart,

“we don’t like him anymore.”

“We are done.”

Do people function that way?

It sure seems so.

Are humans that out of touch with their heart?

Oh, heartless humanity…
